Zimmer Recalls Persona Knee Replacements

Medical device manufacturer Zimmer issued a recall of its Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial knee replacement in March, 2015. If you or someone you know has received a Persona knee replacement from Zimmer, you should contact Doucet & Associates. The Persona knee replacement is being recalled because of complaints about joint pain, component loosening and osteolysis, which is the destruction or disappearance of bone tissue. There are over 11,000 of these Persona knee replacements, and in early 2015 Zimmer issued a recall stating “all affected product [sic] are to be located and quarantined immediately.”

Zimmer issued several recalls in the past decade. In 2008, Zimmer issued a recall for some of its hip replacements, stating that surgeons did not have enough time to properly train on implanting the hip devices. However, doctors also found that the hip device’s design prevented it from staying in place. Several other knee replacements offered by Zimmer were also recalled due to reports of early loosening including the NexGen and High Flex. Shockingly, the NexGen design was not tested before being made available for consumer use.

If you or someone you know had surgery where a Zimmer Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial knee replacement was implanted, call Doucet & Associates Co., L.P.A. at (614) 944-5219. If you have been suffering from joint pain, a faulty knee replacement implant may very well be the cause of your distress. Action must be taken quickly to take advantage of the recall.
